Hello! I'm back from Australia and also Toronto. This fall has been a bit of a whirlwind for me but VERY exciting! I mentioned a little while ago that I would be taking some time off to get married... that was the trip to Australia with our five teenage kids. I also managed to squeeze in a trip to see my mom who is now in a nursing home in Toronto.
Several of you have asked to see some photos from the wedding so I'll share a few here along with a bit of our story. My husband and I met 25 years ago on a boat called the Falla out on the Great Barrier Reef in Far North Queensland (FNQ) Australia. We spent an incredible few days together visiting the sights and exploring the area but sadly we had to face reality and return to our busy lives. He was completing his medical training in the USA and I was working in marketing for a large software company in Canada at the time. We eventually married other people and fell out of touch. When our respective marriages fell apart, we reconnected. We got engaged a couple of years ago and when we started discussing plans for a wedding we both knew that getting married on the Falla would be a dream come true. The stars aligned and we were able to take our five teenagers on the trip of a lifetime to Australia over the Thanksgiving Break. Here's a few photos from our special day.
Here we are in front of The Falla.
The weather was a bit iffy that day so we sailed over to Fitzroy Island with the hope of calmer water and nicer weather. It worked! This is a drone photo of us moored by the island for the ceremony.
Here we are after the ceremony. Yes... we're almost a Brady Bunch!
My girls all looked so pretty... and grown up!
The Falla is a beautiful old pearl lugger with a rich history. It is the only boat of it's kind still in operation today and offers sailing trips out to the Great Barrier Reef for small groups. It is the best way to see the reef... you'll learn about the reef, the history of the brutal pearl industry and be regaled with other fun facts by Captain Doug. And who knows... you might meet someone extra special!
The past few weeks have been busy with getting back to life, school exams, the holidays and a visit with my mom. I've got lots of crafty projects on my list and my focus right now is on holiday tags! I'll be sharing some of my projects here on the blog this week so I hope you'll stop by.
Thanks for visiting!
Wow! What a wonderful story. So excited for this new chapter for you, Linda. Best wishes to you and your new husband.
