It's not just me. I hear this a lot. Guy cards are hard. Lucky me - I have three daughters so my need for guy cards is rather limited. Every once in a while though I do need to make a few. I was searching on Pinterest for "masculine cards" and was amazed at some of the things that some folks think are OK to put on a card for a guy. Of course, knowing your audience is important!
These uber simple cards made with our Tool-rific stamp set are perfect for my intended recipients.
Blue is always good for a boy card, right? Add a little black and white washi - nothing fancy. Presto!
This card is simple but I love the message. I used my stamp positioner and a bit of masking to get the nail to appear as if it was hanging the "sign" on the "tree".
Heat embossing is one of those techniques that everyone loves - including guys! I have participated in my fair share of stamping events, craft fairs and community events and when you bring out the heat tool... everybody wants to see. Guys seem to be especially impressed with my Milwaukee Heat tool. I am sure they are wondering if it will strip paint off houses and stuff. Ha! (The answer is yes, if you were wondering and trying to find a way to justify this purchase to your husband!) Given this... I think heat embossing is perfectly fine to use on a "guy" card.
I would love to hear what some of your personal "rules" are for guy cards. Colors, themes, techniques. Post them in the comments, would you please? I'd also love to hear your thoughts on these guy cards.
Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!
xo,
These are all adorable. My favorite is the first one! So simple, but really 'nails' it! I try to keep my guy cards CAS, and use manly colors. No fru-fru...and yes, it's hard! Great job, as always!

I had to laugh when you said you were "amazed at some of the things that some folks think are OK to put on a card for a guy." I agree. I use deep earth tones-browns, blues, greens for cards for guys. Hardware is good too like brads, eyelets, photo turns, clips. No frills, no bows, if you must use a ribbon than a nice textured one across the card. The A Muse chevron ribbon would be perfect for a nautical themed masculine card!

Thanks, Patti! I agree... manly cards are CAS in my book too!
Princess Judy, I like the hardware idea. I contemplated using a little duck tape on one of my cards but it was way too stiff for what I had in mind so I cheated and used a little washi instead. I LOVE nautical for a guy card... most of the men in my life love boats.
