My mother asked me if I could make her a calendar that she could keep in her purse. You see, she is 78 and does not own (or wish to own) a smartphone that she could use for this purpose.
The A Muse Studio Mini Calendar came to the rescue!
(Click here to find all of the A Muse Studio FREE 2014 Calendar downloads.)
I printed the mini calendar on Sugar white cardstock and then trimmed to 1.75" square. I then die cut different colored 2" scalloped squares using the Nestabilities Small Scallop Squares die set. Once all the months were assembled, I punched a hole in the corner and joined them together with some baker's cording. This way it is very easy to see the individual months.
I then realized that in order for the calendar to last an entire year in someone's purse, it may need some protection. C'mon... you know what I'm talking about! <smile> So I created a protective pouch with A Muse Studio Bubblegum felt. I whip-stitched the two sides, used an a|s scallop border die (small) to create the pretty edge and tied it with baker's cording.
As a last minute addition, I thought it would be fun to add the year 2014 to the Calendar pouch. With A Muse Studio felt, heat 'n bond and the Tall Alpha die set this was easy peasy!
First adhere a small strip of heat 'n bond to one side of the felt. Then position the die over the strip so that just the numbers will cut. This saves a lot of time and felt.
I used A Muse Studio's angled tweezers to position the letters and then ironed them in place.
So cute... and my mom is thrilled!
So stinkin' cute if I do say so!
Tell me... have you created any projects with the A Muse Studio Calendar downloads? If yes, please share a link in the comments. I'd really love to see.
You know what? I do have a smartphone and I still like this idea! I have a bad habit of forgetting to check the charge on my phone before I leave the house, and I don't have a car charger (I keep meaning to get one but never think of it at the right time). That means my phone sometimes has no battery when I need to put something on my calendar.
